That was a really strong show. The Rosalind Gascoigne show was a ripper. Looking forward to the Brack, show. These Australian retrospectives are so needed.
I first discovered Gordon Bennett in Brisbane. That was before he got onto Basquiat's replies. He is a very strong artist, as is Basquiat. They are two of my favourite painters, and painting is my favourite art form. I find the interplay caused by Basquiat's frisson fastastic. I just love John Brack too. Some lucky people got taught by him in Melbourne at the National Art School. Ted Lord who used to run the Dan O'Connell poetry reading before he passed away a couple of years back was one. Apparently a damn fine teacher too.
